Just grow some balls and do it. I was quiet all through high school as well, and really regret it now. The more you talk to people (girls) the easier and easier it gets. The best tip is to just not give a ****. Honestly. It's hard to do, but once you don't care what the outcome is you're much more relaxed and sane, and you get a lot more yes answers.

I'm a whopping 22 right now. She was 18 and I was 21. I worked with her and she got stood up the week before. I'm just a nice guy like that.
