Zaire Blue - Moba

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are they wild caught?

Moba's are beautiful. I just picked up a few F1's and when I saw the wild parents, I was completely blown away at the colour and finnage.
These are crazy expensive, but well worth it!

Thanks for the nice words everyone.

Yes, all of my MOBAS are wild collected. In fact, I just got a new batch in so I have plenty available if anyone wants some.

The other fish that keeps popping up in the pix is a pair of Tanganyikan Tilapia (Oreochromis tanganicae).

Thanks :D

Hey, I have noticed that the mask on some of them do not look zorro like. I have picked up three fry of these a about 1-1 1/2 year. They have grown a lot, but 2 have masks that are more similar to some of yours. One is more Zorro like!
Mike,
The mask of the Zaire Blue group of C. gibberosa is highly variable. I have raised spwans of them where only a few had the "Zorro" mask, while other spawns showed almost all of them with it. Hope that helps.

i think those are 5 star generals not Boulengerochromis
Five Star General is the common name for Hemichromis elongatus--note the five "stars" on the female (smaller one).

Bolengerochromis microlepis is also called the emperor cichlid. See here:
