ok...i want one...some questions

max size? i have read everywere from 30" to 72"

how long will it last in a 55gal?...the one i can get is 15"+-

anyone keep them with smaller fish?

i will think of more but this is a start...

The zebra moray gets to just shy of five feet. Those over three are rare. They are crustacean eaters primarily and not very aggressive toward fish. They are fairly shy. 100 gallon or larger would be better.

they are known to be fish friendly for a moray.... they are still a moray but if you are planning to keep a large one with fish it is the best way to go. from my readings i believe they can get somewhere around 5 feet. at 5 feet or close to you will need a minimum of 75 gallons for it alone and a good skimmer. at 15" you will be able to keep it in the 55 for quite a while, the more fish you keep with it the shorter your time in the 55 will be. as long as you keep it with say 2-3 smaller fish (not too small try to keep them bigger than what it could swallow whole) i would go with something like a yellow tang, smaller trigger crosshatch, sargassum, possibly a niger if your keeping it inexpensive, possibly one of the squirrelfish family, a wrasse... options are almost endless it all depends on your taste.

hmmm...i think i have found the next adventure...so for like a 75gal could one do a zebra, lionfish, trigger of some sort and a tang

for a while you could. it would get cramped with all that in there, i said 75 for life for just the zebra.... also depends on what kind of lion trigger and tang you have in mind.

all right...i am shotting for a 75gal larger tank to trade for 1 or 2 55gals on criagslist...we'll see what happens...i am hoping to get a 125gal or something...

idk on the lion or the trigger, but i like most of the sp. of each so they are flexible...the tang would be a blue hipola or what ever is that 'dori' fish as i will need to use it for leverage against the wife to get the tank...kids love that 'nemo' movie...

zebra in a 55 would be alright for a while. Like others said the info is correct. Zebras are LUCKY to get over 3ft after many many years. One at this pet shop is 15years old and 42inches long. They stay rather slender so no worries in needing a huge tank for them. Keep in mind a lion fish can grow to the size of a basket ball with its fins. I would say for your stock a 125 would be most suitable. The 75 would work for a little bit, but it would become cramped fast.

i have the add on criagslist...hopfully i can get a 125gal...i seen one for $300 with stand, but i know and you kinda know how my whife is from the other thread so...my lfs is taking out most of their salt stuff and they have 2 125gal salts running with LR...i may see what they want for one and try to get the whife to go shopping for a few hours:naughty:

if i were to move all my rock, sand, powerhead and filter from my 20gal into a 55gal buy the zebra and some more rock/sand...do you think it would eat the clowns?
