Before you guys jumping on me for having them illegally, I have a permit to collect the zebra mussels for public education and they were being kept at the DNR office and not at home. I only had them for two weeks and so far they are very hardy and resilent since I don't really feed them haha.

Two months of no feeding, they are still thriving....

Cool project MN.

So I take it you can't starve the little buggers? lol
I wasn't planning to keep them alive since I'm only using them as a decoration haha. I'm not even trying! The only food I put in the aquarium was flakes and pellets for longear sunfish and madtom. Nothing else.

Still kicking without no food.....tho I introduce some zebra nerites and ghost shrimp so the zeebs were probably getting some flakes.

Wow, really shows just how screwed the great lakes are from these guys. Wish they were edible

I know someone on NANFA who accidently got some zeebs in his native aquarium when he was using the water from a lake and they breed just fine! He do nothing and he don't feed them either. I got some smaller zeebs in there but no new zeebs so far.

Apparently there's some studies on zebra mussels....they can survive for 11 months without any foods.
