All depends where you are. Here in the uk I can buy one for £85 each or 10 for £70 each at a reputable LFS or anything between £85 and £120 each from private sellers , but that said there are still private sellers trying to sell “breeding” groups of 13 fish for > £2k

Depends on location honestly
Locally here in Canada they go for about $200 for 1.5-2 inch from private sellers and some smaller local stores.

$270 for the same fish at a bigger chain store (if your lucky enough to find them).

For some strange inexplicable reason I have a sudden urge to breed hundreds of z$$$$ p$$$$$, lol.
I breed mine in a 20g long tank and leave the babies to grow with the adults….anyone who is serious about fish keeping can find the space for a 20g long tank 😂

they are easier to breed then they are to sell

And there in lies the problem.
I started breeding blue eyed lemons to get the price down from the £15 per adult fish they were selling at. I bred thousands and the adults still sell at £15each. Not because they couldn’t be cheaper, but because the LFS have a set of unwritten rules between them that say they won’t reduce the price(as advised by more than one LFS).
L46 don’t produce as many young, but even if they did, you won’t see the price coming down much any time soon, these things take a long time to change and usually by the suppliers, not the hobbyists.

I too was breeding blue eyed lemons and stopped bc I could t sell the babies for $10 each while store were selling for $25 each. Now I recently went to a store and they are $45 for 1.5 inch babies.

the zebras can produce a lot of babies (granted not as many as a bn) at one time I had about 20 babies from one group. I think two females were breeding with one male and he was Alayna’s on eggs and has multiple generations (upwards of three or four generations) of fry in his cave even while he is one eggs. Even if I get over run with zebras I won’t bring my prices down, I’d rather keep them as they are beautiful plecos. With them being added to cites appendix iii people are expecting the prices of them to raise as shops will now have to have documents for all zebra plecos that are moved from country to country, state to state, and provenience to provenience. They will need proof of them being tank bred.
