Zebra plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I too was breeding blue eyed lemons and stopped bc I could t sell the babies for $10 each while store were selling for $25 each. Now I recently went to a store and they are $45 for 1.5 inch babies.

the zebras can produce a lot of babies (granted not as many as a bn) at one time I had about 20 babies from one group. I think two females were breeding with one male and he was Alayna’s on eggs and has multiple generations (upwards of three or four generations) of fry in his cave even while he is one eggs. Even if I get over run with zebras I won’t bring my prices down, I’d rather keep them as they are beautiful plecos. With them being added to cites appendix iii people are expecting the prices of them to raise as shops will now have to have documents for all zebra plecos that are moved from country to country, state to state, and provenience to provenience. They will need proof of them being tank bred.
Did you try selling them at $20? In my own experience if someone if offering a fish for a lot less than the normal price I immediately became suspicious. Even <$5 raised an eyebrow.

Generally in the states they go for 100 per inch for a fair price. I been collecting zebra plecos the past 3 years whenever I find good deals on them. Seems like I can't get enough of them. And probably the only fish I don't mind keeping forever and don't get bored simply cuz they are amazing to look at

I didn’t try selling them for $20 because I bought mine for $10 each and wanted to sell them for what I paid for them. I never thought selling that much less than a store would be a deterrent honestly!
