Very few breeders sell just two. You generally have to buy them in larger numbers, and grow them out. $200 is not going to make them move fast, you will just sit on them. Most of the big zebra breeders sell for $125-150.

Have a look on classifieds (e.g. zebraplecos.com) and just be in the right place at the right time. Most people have to buy juveniles and grow them up into adults which can take a couple of years till they are sexually mature.

there slow growers too? ive got some shellies and there slow growers too are they slower than shellies or faster? and theres some even more expensive plecs than zebras. i chose 200 cuz i heard a while ago they were 350 each?

Sexually maturity and reaching adult size are two different things... A lot of people try and sex them around 2 years give or take, but not by odontodes or vents, it is still a bit young to get it right 100% this way. On average I'd say most people get their F1's or whatever to breed around the three year mark. Haven't heard of anything before 28months/2 and half years personally.

A lot of people fall into the trap of thinking they can breed them and make some quick cash, and then are dissappointed when they find out it might take them 44 months before they've sold anything.

$350 each would be for sub-adults/adults, which will take you 2.5 to 3 years to grow out, which means if you get juveniles, expect 6-7 years for a return.

i breed zabs here in aus...my pair cos me $1800 for both at 7-8cm...the fry take forever to get big imo its not really worth it coz it takes too long but here in aus its worth the wait coz u sell the fry at 500-700 dollars

theyve only bred once and ive had them for 1.5 years....hope fully they will start again soon
