Are you absolutely certain? I'm talking about a Brachyplatystoma tigrinum. I posted the same question at Planetcatfish.com and the moderator of the South American catfish forum said it was ok. She gave me a link to it's profile that says it only gets 50cm or less than 20". Here's a link to that page: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=354

Here's a link to the thread a made there.

I'm hoping you were thinking of a different fish and you guys will now say go for it.

Although I've never kept one, I believe they don't grow as large as most other South American cats. Even if they grow to 24" your tank should be fine for quite a while if not for the life of the cat. They are thin fish unlike many others and from what I see are not very active fish either. I say go for it, you tank is probably bigger than most keep them in anyways. Bigger is always better thats a given, but a tank that size should suite that fish just fine.

JMO of course............

And I've never kept one either........

A large beautiful not so active cat is exactly what I'm looking for. I think I'm going to try it. I want to phase out all my super aggressive CA cichlids and keep my Aro, Dats, a few bichirs and maybe a Fei Feng with the Tig. Hopefully it will all work out for the best.
