Are you thinking fresh or salt water? I would think you would have to deal with a lot of salt creep with a salt water tank.

I wonder home much maintenance a tank like that takes to keep all the calcium deposites off the stand and such? I do know it would have to be perfectly level! It must have some sort of very fine adjustment for leveling the tank. I would guess a tank like that would have some sort of minimum flow rate to keep the overflow water coating all 4 sides.

At least you would not have to ponder over whet to drill the overflow!

Very cool looking though!

From what I read its not much worse than any other open top coral tank.

They're cool, but if I ever had a marine tank it wouldn't be one of these. Just imagine you losing a prized fish because it jumped out at night when you were sleeping or at work...and thats exactly what happens too, people love the looks of them and buy one and then their fish end up jumping out

That brings us back to the issue of stocking as with any open top tank is extremely important.

Bump. I'm still looking for more input on this tank design. I hope to have one eventually and try it as first a planted tank then as a reef tank and let you know but I would like to hear from you guys any more thoughts or if you've found any further articles on the internet that I might have missed.

There are a couple of lfs that I've been to that use this system. After awhile, tiny bit of bowing is bound to happen which will cause an uneven water flow which will result in some parts of the tank not having water flowing over it. Doesn't look as nice anymore.

One of them seem like it was slightly bowing. The other 2 or 3 I didn't notice any bowing, but they had didn't have an even water flow. So the edges had some areas where water wasn't flowing over.
