Does zucchini make the water go bad at all if left in the tank for a long time?

As long as you take the leftovers out before they rot you wont have a problem.

I usually leave veges in the tank overnight and take out whats left in the morning. Gives the plecos plenty of time to graze on overnight and get a good feed.

Cheers

I slice the zucchini/cucumber crossways into disks and let them float in the tank. My plecos swim upside down at the surface to eat the food.

Wow! that must be sooo cool to watch! so your pleco catfish becomes upside down catfish... hahahah.. lol!

put it into boiling water for 10 seconds, pull it out and immediately submerge in ice water. That always makes my cucumbers and zucchinis sink

get a veggie clip that sticks to the side of the tank with a suction cup, or stab it with a butter knife. tying a string to it is a very good idea.
