Hi guys, just received my new Zungaro, and now I can say that I have both species .. Zungaro Zungaro and Zunfaro jahu... The first one is a Zungaro Zungaro, it came from Rondonia, Brazil ... It's about 20 cm ... Second is a Zungaro jahu, from Parana river, São Paulo, Brazil .. It's about 28 cm ... Both are eating well ... Hope you guys like it ..

Wow, what are you plans for them? Lake!-)

If the jahu ID holds, it'll be likely the first one ever reported on MFK.

AFAIK, we never get jahu in the trade, only Z. zungaro. Whilst jahu blows z.z. out of the water with max size:

It looks like a Piraiba(Brachyplatystoma filamentosum), not a Jau ... Head and body shape doesn't match to a jau ...
Zungaro jahu has light brown color and the body is shorter

I agree with you. Knowing so little about jahu, I thought that such large ones may not keep the body proportions of the small ones but it looks from your first photo they do so precisely. Thank you very much.

My bad indeed.

The second photo gives me an MFK Error message.

My two Z.z. grow slowly indeed. One's ~6 years, the other is ~4 years. Both at about 30". The older is rounder, could be female and of course dominates the smaller while the smaller tirelessly tries to instigate a coup.

There is hope that one day I will learn to assess critically everything I find on the internet.

Unfortunately, Fishing World Records is known for their occasional gross ID errors... and so am I with or without their help...

Repost your second photo please, esp. if it is a jahu.
