So I saw this at my LFS, and I can’t seem to find any info about it on the internet. “Blue Yuanbao Parrot Cichlid” is what the store bought it and is selling it as. Even the store owner said he had never seen or heard of this color morph before. I’ve kept around a half dozen blood parrots before, so I’m really curious about this guy. Hopefully these pictures uploads well.

If anyone has any information on them that would be great. I’ve been assured that they’re not dyed or tattooed, and I trust the owner of our LFS.

Looks like short body Texas. Parrot Texas
As in a hybrid between a blood parrot and a Texas cichlid? Hmm, looks about right, I bought it on impulse (yes I have a life-long tank for it already, 120g with some other CA cichlids) and I’m hoping it turns out healthy. Hopefully it also keeps the coloring, my kids named it the second I put it in QT lol

I’m just stating the obvious based on looks I really have no first hand knowledge on these.
I know a lot of breeders attempt to make red Texas crossing parrots with Texas.
I’m just assuming some attempts may result in some short body fish that carry parrot genes and retain Texas looks

Texas and parrot cross I've been seeing these alot lately plus Texas cichlids will breed with just about anything

Fair enough, thanks for the educated guess anyhow.

Impossible to say with any certainty, but I guess with time you will know.
