    M.O. Longear tank mates

I've decided to go with three log perch and seven Scarlet shiners. I also got a two inch brook stickleback from my local bait dealer that came in with some of his minnows; so far it is keeping the long ears in line and he is so aggressive I might move him to his own tank. Also, I was thinking...

    M.O. Longear tank mates

I need ideas for tank mates for my longear tank. They are about an inch and a half now and I only plan on keeping the best looking male. There are 5 in a 75 (one got trapped under a rock and died when my kid messed with the tank decor) and the tank looks empty, especially since my two juvie...

    About to buy lighting...

I have two Odyssea 48" HO t5 fixtures, one is the dual bulb and one is a quad. I've had no problems with either of them. I will say that the bulbs do make a difference; the actual Odyssea bulbs that come with the fixtures just aren't good quality and seem to cause more algae than plant growth...

Two Sleeper Gobies in one tank?

Thanks for the reply! They seem to be doing good together right now in the 55, even resting on the same rock or plant at times. One is larger, almost twice the size of the other, and I was worried about it eating the smaller one, but that doesn't seem to be a problem because they really don't...

Two Sleeper Gobies in one tank?

I started a native tank recently and am currently growing out 5 MO Longear Sunfish and two Sleeper Gobies. I plan on only keeping a single MO Longear and adding other species of sunfish (undecided as of now) but was wondering if I could keep both Sleeper Gobies together or if I have to keep...

Check your local stoneyard/quarry for cheap rocks

Father-In-Law runs a gravel/sand pit, I get a lot of cool rocks from him. In his pit there is a lot of white granite and quartz pieces, in the pit closer to where I live there are tons of red granite with quartz pieces. My summers are spent just walking the pits looking for cool rocks, drives...

My tank seal gave out :(

Sorry about your tank. That really sucks. :( Hopefully you can re-seal it, like some other posters said there are a lot of YouTube videos now about repairing acrylic tanks. This is one reason I stick with glass, even if it is heavier. If it does bust a seam I can fix it fast with silicon the...

    Lost my retric, starvation?

KNH- I am starting to think he was WC, even though the person I purchased him from said he was tank bred. He was thin and a tank bred pup coming from its' "home tank" should have been well started and fat. A hystrix was considered, but I had great luck with my other retric and really enjoyed...

    Lost my retric, starvation?

My male retric died yesterday. He just never ate, at least well.:( The ray was skinny when I got him four months ago, but not terrible. He was Prazied and quarantined for two months in a 20 gallon until I got him eating and then moved into the 180. He never grew. My other retric grew...

Water stinks from Hikari Food Sticks...

My tank smells after feeding the Hikari Sinking Cichlid Gold, never had a problem with any of their other foods that I use (Cichid Bio-pellets and Sinking Carnivore.) After I go through the two pound bag I have in my freezer I'm not going to use it anymore.

    RES and bananas?

Seeing as RES eat just about anything I can't believe you have nothing else to give it but bananas and bread until friday. Heck, even dog or cat food (dry) would be better for the turtle. Salad mix or even dandelion greens and flowers (if you are sure they haven't been sprayed or treated with...

I need help....tank leaked completely out

Talk about a nightmare! I'm sorry about your aro. :( Is the tank worth re-sealing? I din't see if you wrote that it cracked or if just a seam went. Hope you get everything up and running and your rays can come home soon.

    efficent lighting

Sorry to be OT, but: Aren't you worried about the Plecos destroying the plants? Anyway, even with the tank depth of 30", the lighting you have now should be enough for jungle vals, anubius, java ferns, moss, and Sagittaria platyphylla. MH is so expensive and IMO you don't need it unless you...
