You can use cement sheeting to level out stands, I find it great as it comes in many thickness. Or if your happy to ditch the cinder blocks and go with a welded frame, adjustable legs can be used, I did this on my 8x4x3 as my cement is also off, they work great & are pretty much solid...

Water based paint for foam works quite well. My friend uses book covering for his tanks he has a few lines as they dont come in such large sizes but it still looks pretty good. quite cheap too from what I was told.

Use sikaflex 11fc for acrylic to glass, it will hold quite well. I dont see how cutting glass can be easier then acrylic though. I always go all glass as its cheaper for me but cutting it defiantly not easier else I am doing something wrong :|

All depends what your keeping imo, Things like angels & tetras etc I like to keep in tall slim tanks. Cichlids & plecos etc short wide tanks.

My mate refuses to feed his fish pellets, his always feeding seafood but never the same type, his fish sure do grow faster then anyone else I know... only downside I know of is the cost his always complaining its costing him more to feed the fish per a week then himself lol.
