Mostly true with the male to female ratio but if you start out with 5 or 6 and remove the excess you will be fine, as for Ocellatus and Meleagris together in a 10gal bad ideal there will be too much territorial issues and its hard to sex these in my opinion, instead of pool sand go with aragonite sand 10LBS for a 10gal will not break your budget and is a better type of sand in quality wise plus its a lot cleaner.. i left a message at your other thread on the Meleagris check it out.. later my friend and good luck..
