Yeah, I think I'll heed your warning until I set up a monster sized tank or I have another tank going where I can place the Haps if they start getting destroyed in the current setup.
I plan on letting the Vallisneria grow (mostly uncontrolled, but I'll trim it occasionally to keep it from overhanging on the surface) to cover a good portion of the left side of the tank.Going to fill it with more plants or keep it the way it is?

Most of my mbuna are actually approaching mature adulthood. My largest are my male P. elegans 'ngara', male P. heteropictus, and female M. callainos 'ruarwe', all of which are now over 5" and almost 2 years old.Marcus, while things are currently peaceful, that will change once you get the tank fully stocked with more mbuna, the fish mature, and territories start to become established.
There are a few haps that could possibly work out long term, but I would stay away from Protomelas, unless you go with a single male
