frontlines also did a study and arcticle called HOT GUNS. this shows that majority of illegal fire arms are obtained across the boarder. not from private legal gun owners.

So from where are the guns used in crimes in Toronto?
In fighting gun crime, Canada has an American problem

you can use Toronto Canada as a super clear picture to why legal guns have very little impact on homicide rates.
legal gun owners are practically non existent here. but it has the highest homicide rate in canada. fact not feelings. sorry

Yes - most guns used in crimes in Canada and Mexico are obtained from the US. And most guns used in crimes in places with strict gun laws are obtained from nearby places with lax gun laws.

again. that says 16 guns. thats a very light number when you lookup the total illegal firearms in canada. show me the statistic that says most of the firearms crossing the boarder into canada from the US are legal fire arms.

its comical to me that you would even link that. considering canada has no other boarder that can be driven across and its not easy to smuggle guns on air planes. so your literally just stating the obvious logic one should have with common sense. facts are fact. most homicides by gun are obtained illegally. until you can show me a statistic that says legal guns are the majority. your just blowing smoke.

Where there are lots of legal guns, there are lots of illegal guns. And more guns = more gun deaths and violence.

Here's a study that I found quickly:

"Between 2017 and 2021, ATF data shows that 99% of firearms traced as part of criminal investigations (“crime guns”) were purchased at a gun dealer, pawn shop, or from the manufacturer, with about 70% of crime guns coming from a licensed dealer.

However, ATF data shows that 58% of crime guns are possessed by someone other than the person that purchased the gun. In Detroit, 61% of recovered
guns were possessed by an individual who did not purchase the gun between 2017 and 2021.

Based on the data showing that many individuals arrested for gun crimes did not purchase the guns themselves, it appears that many of the guns used in crimes are obtained through “straw purchases,” where an individual has another person buy a gun on their behalf.

While stolen guns are also often used to commit crimes, the number of stolen guns appears to be far less than the number obtained through straw purchases and/or undocumented private sales. Even if a gun is purchased legally from a licensed dealer, it can change hands multiple times through private sales without any record. The majority of individuals who obtain a gun used to commit a crime purchase the guns from an unlicensed supplier who is not required to conduct a background check. This includes some online suppliers, individuals at gun shows, or many private sales. In a survey of individuals who were incarcerated for a gun crime, about half reported that they purchased the weapon from an unlicensed supplier.5 In contrast, only about 13% reported that they purchased a gun from a federally licensed dealer.

this is the type of thing you need to look at properly.
2nd paragraph

" it is nearly impossible to determine the number of illegally owned guns. Because guns are illegally obtained through straw purchases, unlicensed dealers, private sales, or theft"

so really what are the numbers? there all generalized together. thats not a statistic thats a smoke show.
it could be even across the board, it could be 1% for each of them other then theft. we dont know. because they cant tell you.

i have read damn near every single study on this subject. any studies done with credibility that dont use silly disclaimers like the one you just posted. outline illegal firearms as the majority of crime and homicide. majority come across the boarder.

Fish like Hoplias and piranhas are already illegal in Florida so a business that wants to sell those probably shouldn't be in Florida.

Trying to put a white list in place represents a massive burden on an agency like FWS. The Governor's budget proposal to the legislature would need to reflect the additional resources needed for a white list rule implementation, enforcement, etc. And likely an impact statement on projected businesses and jobs lost. A career FWS guy would have a visceral understanding of this: "Who's gonna enforce this?... Does this mean we need to hire more people and/or pay lots of overtime?"

What I still don't grasp is why this is a priority for FWS. Has anyone asked the Governor's office to comment on this?
Good point.

Ban guns. Criminals will still find ways to obtain them. They will smuggle them in. Just look at how well the war on drugs worked. The only thing stricter gun laws succeed in doing is making it harder for good people to defend themselves from criminal activity. Our gun laws are already strict. More problematic are the failure of the criminal justice system and mental health system.
