i think i agree with you anyway as you can't go wrong with deltec plus by adding this skimmer it means i can sell on my fx5 and use most of the money from that.
i was never sure about using a canister anyway.
i will start with around 20kg live rock, skimmer and add ther fish really slowly.

I would agree on the Deltec also.....

Hmmm...I would also be tempted to run some form of external filtration untill a larger ammount of live rock is in the tank, as 20kg is not going to provide much surface area for bacteria to colonise on.....

Just my thoughts... :)

Don't spare on the live rock, Dixon, and ad in a healthy layer of sand. That will take care of the bio filtration.
I've had good results in using canisters with carbon for short periods.
SW set ups require much more water movement, so ad in a couple of well placed power heads.

Last but not last, a good functioning skimmer is a must imo...
