look at post #2. i had mine in a 2x1x1' at first up until about 8" they are now currently in a 55g.

Gars are pigs. Usually the only issues with them is the panic swiming. A fat gar is a happy gar!

Glad he's eating for you =) and Yeah Egon is pretty Cool.... Just be very careful about the spooking ect.. and floating plants do help them feel secure ect if he seems intimidated ect.
