It was very sunny and bright an hour ago. Still a gorgeous day but clouds are already rolling in for the big storm that is coming tonight and lasting through tomorrow. High winds with gusts to 50 mph and potential for 5 1/2 inches of rain through tomorrow night. High wind warning with downed trees and wide spread power outages predicted. Flood watch for low lying areas until Thursday morning.

I shudder to think what 5+ inches of rain in a day and a half would do to my area... :WHOA:

We currently have +3C...37F...in my yard right. The forecast calls for temps as high as +6C for the next several day. There are even one or two nights that will stay above freezing all night!

Completely unheard of in January; most or all of our snow will be gone. Right now, the deer tracks and dog prints criss-crossing our lawn are all sticking up an inch or two above all the surrounding snow. The critter puts its foot down, compressing the snow beneath, causing it to melt much more slowly than the surrounding undisturbed snow. When there's a quick melt, you get "reverse foot prints"; kinda cool while it lasts. :)

I’m hunkered down inside next to the fire - they’re expecting 90 cm of snow here over the next few days.

Better get the shovel ready.
Wow...you have my sympathies and best wishes.

When you are talking 90 cm of snow...you are well beyond mere "shovel" levels.

Wow! That is one crippling snowfall! It looks like you are in a suburban area? Which adds the bonus problem of...where to put the stuff while trying to dig yourself out?

Stay safe; there are sadly going to be a number of heart attacks, a bunch of traffic accidents and a whole lot of frayed nerves going around.
