ok should I add other fish to help cause im worried when hes to big he may try to kill them but growing them up together they might get along

This may be just something I came up with but I think I remember reading somewhere on here that breeding cichlids at sizes that small can stunt growth of the fish as they use their nutrients primarily for breeding and not growing. So if I'm correct it would be beneficial for this fish's potential size and nuchal hump size if they weren't breeding. But I could be mistaken.

Can somebody confirm this?
