Bags work well, the only issue is that you will need some help to guide the aro into the bag.

One of the easiest ways is to get an oversized silicone net, scoop the arowana out and then bag it, or put it in a towel (though you risk damaing some of the scales.) Just be careful to do it slowly so that the aro doesn't get spooked and jump.

I just took my 10 incher out to measure him from my 45 gallon... I just used a deep pond net... 16 inches is not anywhere near large enough that you need a "drop net" or bag etc. That would be a method used for an arapaima or such... Once you put it in the net, TWIST the top of the net until it is closed so if it does try to jump it just hits the top of the net... I held mine in 1 hand with a firm grip to put him back in and nearly lost him! NEVER carry it by hand like I did. They suddenly become a VERY slippery thrashing fish LOL!
