Ha! Finally got a decent pic of the problem area
It's near the base of his tail, and before I started the salt, it looked like a little white dot - similar to when I get a pimple on my face. Right after I started the salt, the redness went away but with the ammonia problem the redness came right back, but the white dot is gone. I'm keeping a very close eye on him and adding a little more salt (I have snails and corys, plecos and a gorgeous but horribly shy featherfin) so I'm being very careful with the amount I put in. I saw your post terror, and the white dot didn't quite look the same, probably because mine was much smaller and he doesn't like to stay still enough for me to see it very well
