I have at least 300 of these in my 10 gallon, I always seed tanks with these guys when first starting them, especially since I A) love my planted tanks, and B) love my dirted tanks.

I like how they help eat leftover food (I have a tendency to overfeed) and I like how they help aerate the substrate by digging through it gently.

In fact, the only thing I don't like about these guys is that, even when I toss 100 of them in at a single time, I can't get them to establish in my 75.....AGH

I want to try out the spiky ones eventually though, just because.

Not correct.

Then you have snails other than MTS. They are absolutely plant safe.

I love my MTS. They only multiply like crazy if you over feed. Perfect clean up crew.

completely agreed. it's always been my fish that have messed up my plants, never the MTS.
clown loaches have a nasty tendency of punching holes into plant leaves and digging them up, alongside my fronts. my plants take a beating.
