Ok so my friend has a 30 gallon tank that is WAY overstocked. It turns out she recieved the fish from a friend who had the fish in a 125. The fish are 12 african cichlids, average about 4 inches, 1 tiretrack eel, 2 featherfin catfish, and 2 smaller catfish which i dont know the name of. All the fish seem to be breathing heavily and not active what so ever. From what i know they were healthy before being dumped into a 30. Im planning on rescuing them. I have an empty 55 that i can put some of the fish in untill they are healthy enough to go into my 125 cichlid tank. My questions are:
One fish has cloudy eye and white patches on its side. Should i leave this one?
Which fishes should i leave in the 30 gallon?
How long should i quarentine them for?
What should i do when quarenting them?
Is latteral line disease contagious?
Anything i should look for?
Thanks,
Justin
