Pool filter sand or play sand??

Just for the record: playsand would be preferable for planted tanks because of nutrients. Without plants, it's just added dirt.

Yeah don't plan to have live plants... pool sand looks great in the tank my fish are already opening up more

Took about 30 minutes to do one 50 lb bag. Not sure if that's good or bad....but it was way cleaner than playsand I've used in the past...I really like it.

I hope you didn't throw out that 110. At most, You likely only need a new motor, impeller & shaft. All that should probably run you around $20, a new 110 is around $80.
I tossed it. It was an ok filter but im done with aquaclear. I replaced the utube assembly on it once before ($25) and the lid cracked in half for no apparent reason. The thing was made of terrible quality plastic and it was extremely overpriced. Its a shame. I use only aqueon powefilters now, they don't stack up to the Ac for bio filtration but I just use them for flow and mech filtration.
