I love and swear by purigen. Absorbs excess nitrogenous waste. Removes tannins and meds. Really helps keep my nitrates down. You can visually see when to recharge it because it changes colors. Easy to recharge. Just always keep it moist.

I'll never use carbon again

Call me old school, but I simply change water to improve quality. Nitrates are by far not the only waste, all you have to do is measure conductivity to find out that chemical media only give the illusion of waste elimination.

I haven't cut back wc's at all .. I just figured that I would see if it had a positive effect on clarity and long term nitrates(I have yet to even test)..and I wouldn't recommend it for anything at this early juncture in my "research"

I actually like do wc almost relaxing. I was interested in this stuff to improve clarity and overall health of my fish. If I could keep nitrates lower and I still stick to the same wc schedule gotta be good for the fish right ? Mostly want it if it REALLY does assist with clarity

I use both products in different tanks, and both together in other tanks. I specifically use the Purigen to "polish" the water in my tanks. Purigen is rechargeable but I've only ever been able to recharge the packs once before I replaced them. I use chemipure in my canisters, aquaclears, and lees triple flows. The chemipure is good for about six months.
