Where the cheeseheads are..
Hey all,
I introduced a pair of leo pups into the tank 2 days ago..
they seem to be doing well at the moment,
active and eating quite much
but the female leo is acting very aggresive and I think there are many times
that she would go biting at others and chasing them around the tank
others get along well nicely

I already noticed that the ones getting picked alot is the male pearl,
and he got several bite marks on the tail fin, making them looked a bit white like fin rot. I'll get some pics soon.

is this goin to be a permanent thing?
she does this even after meals, which means hunger ain't the drivin force here right? I'm a newbie here so I thought rays only bite each other viciously for pre mating session ?

Maybe you should put a divider in the tank for a little while. The female leo maybe trying to claim the tank!!!

Where the cheeseheads are..
This is a few photo during the past 3 days

from pic 1 to 4 , you can see that part of the back fin and the tail has been
nibbled this is during day 1 and 2 after the leos entered the tank.

pic 5 and 6 shows the tail is getting bit more and starting to look like rot ?

last pic shows shows todays conditions, there's a dent on the fin but I think
there's no open wound.

everything else seems normal, eating ghost shrimps a lot and active

its a 80 gal tank now, and obivously overstocked tank , but another one is coming in 2 weeks.

So everyone agreed that some rays are just mean and bully everything else?

yea, you have two options.... sell some to me.... or seperate them... I lost my male 12" hystrix a while back because my male leo (18") and male motoro (8") would pick on him, brings the stress up and eventually they cant take it also get them on some better food than ghost shrimp... it doesnt have enough nutriance in them for the rays, get some nightcrawlers or market shrimp
