Red Devil laying eggs? is this normal?

I saw this happen in an 800 gallon tank in the local library, these females would pair off and lay eggs and defend them, well they wouldn't hatch because they weren't fertilized so they would eat them after a few weeks. They did this about every month or two, women are nuts! :nilly:
