another thing to remember is if you have stronger pumps they can mover more water through a smaller pipe. but it will create a higher pressure. and give a faster water output into the tank.

Getting close to needing to set this tank up and I need to re drill the bulkheads to 1.5"from .75", question is how to go about doing this without breaking the tank and what size diamond bit too use for a bulk head that fits 1.5" pvc? And where to get the bit? Thanks

Search Aquacave for the bulkheads and drill bits it will have the info for what size bit will be needed for the bulkhead you want to use. You'll also need to decide whether you want to use schedule 40 or 80 bulkheads because the bit needed will be different. schedule 80 are more heavy duty and thicker so the bit needed will be larger.

As for how to drill it, there are king of DIY videos on how to do it. The important thin is to us a jig to hold the bit in place and lots of water to keep the bit and the glass cool. let the bit do the work, do not apply pressure like you would drilling metal or wood. If you press on it at all you risk breaking the glass.

Side note: I only say check aquacave for the info and then search around for the best prices on what you need.

The last time I drilled a tank I bought abs bulkheads (for stock tanks maybe) from a farm supply store, not the aquarium style. They are gigantic, heavy duty and are double gasketed. I bought a 1.25" bulkhead, which I hit with my digital caliper and it was 64mm. I bought a 64mm holesaw off amazon for like 20 dollars shipped. I laid the tank on its side and affixed a garden hose to run water over the hole. Use a jig, otherwise it's hard to start. I used a 20v cordless drill. Just let weight of the drill do the work. Took me about 20 mins per hole.

Any reputable aquarium supply website will list hole saw sizes. If its any help I believe the lifeguard aquatics 1" bulkheads for my aga 90g reef ready tank fit in a 1.75" hole

So the tank is cleanedand prepped for plumbing. Pumps ordered and overflows have arrived. uploadfromtaptalk1423809913058.jpg the boxes in the overflow box on the left are Aqueon Twin-Flow Overflow Accessory Kits and the tank is already drilled perfectly for the kits.
