Turtle in outdoor pond?

You would have to take in turtles like the red slider during the winter. In the nature they hibernate underwater but with a pond like that it wouldn't be deep enough for them to do so successfully
That's the other thing I wondered about. I think I would need much more depth and lots of mud for them at the bottom.

I'm not expert in keeping them outdoors but I'm pretty sure if you heat the pond and have a air pump going they'd be fine

Aerating the pond helps it to not freeze also during the winter turtles will go into a hibernation mode at the bottom and breathe threw their skin so that would help them as well.
through their skin? I know amphibans do that, but turtles? where did you read that?
