I think most of the general public would identify a monster fish keeper as someone with 4ft tank +, probably a 55 minimum. That's when they realise that the person is serious about the hobby and have gone out of their way instead of picking up a Petco special.

Here's how I class tanks personally...

0g-20g - small
21g-74g - med
75g-149g - large
150g-180g -Xlarge
181g- up -Monster

But basically I would think anything bigger then what the general public would buy could be considered Monster.

I agree with this. After working at lfs, I realized the common tank was less that or equal to 55 gallons. I'd tell people I had a 75 and get the wide eyed reaction from them.

To a normal, lay person, 75+ gallons. I have kept 50 gallon tanks before and never got a reaction out of normal people due to size. but 75+ seem to get the "omg thats huge" reaction out of regular people.

For this website... I would say 240+. 180gallons and under seem "relatively" common on here but once you get over that it seems to get rare.
