Any opinions on cloning rare fish? As opposed to collecting? Ethical, moral objections?

I am all for cloning, no ethical objectives at all.

EDIT: I am for cloning within the scientific community and not strictly for the hobby.

I would like to clone my self. Ewurm clone, change the water in my tank. Then go to work for me. I am going to the lfs.

CLONE all the way , even to help thigs like parkinsons
lets just never clone a full HUMAN

Humans already hurt the world

it would seems weird having two fish that are exactly the same

i dunno id rather have a different fish each time

You could clone multiple fish. I think their coloration would change as they mature.

nah i dunno, reckon it would be better to put the money into getting rare species to breed and buying conservation land in order to make the less common and rare species get back to how they were. concentrate on what you got, its never gunna be as good as what you can man-make

A couple of things that need to be considered, cloning is not what is displayed in cartoons. You will not zap a fish with some machine and have 1:1 copy on the spot, you will have a fry that would have to develop – generally appearance should be the same but will obviously very based on the diet and tank conditions, plus a different personality.

Valid point. However, if you were to buy land to raise Zebra Plecos, it would probably have to be in brazil. Brazil still has laws against exporting them. You would have to create a fish farm somewhere else.
