not happy to say the least.

remember i got a bunch of dats and all but 2 died

Hi,
I must say I am not pleased to hear all this loss. You are more than welcome anytime to come visit our facilty and see how we care for our fish and how well things are kept here.
We have a very low loss rate here because of the great care we give all our fish and tanks.
We ship hundreds of orders a week, yes hundreds. I must say honestly we have very few doa's or loss. Been doing this for 36 years and take pride in what I do here, this is why we are still here 36 years later !
I do not know what to say on these lost fish. We have not seen a loss on the fish mentioned above, however things do happen.
We do NOT ship a fish if we feel there is a problem or even a potential one.
Other than a few sellers on here, no one in the industry gives 7 day guarantees that I am aware of. We guarantee live arrival and a nice clean fish.
If a fish dies 5 to 10 days later how can that mean I sent you a bad fish? If there were problems here we would know about it right away with the hundreds of orders that go out of here each week. I am sorry for the losses, I really am. I am a very honest business man and I would never send a fish that might have problems.
Vince on the wrong fish sent, I know about the knifes, they were sent to me as this. Sorry for the that, I had no idea.
The nile perch that you were sent sure looked like niles to me. We did not even have barr. at the time.
Sorry to hear of your dissapointment's.
Thanks, Joe.

Joe, I'm very sorry to have started this testimonial thread. I honestly thought I would say a good thing about TFD because I have had nothing but good experiences and, being a business man myself, I like to give good when I get good. I certainly didn't mean to open up a thread to see it hijacked by a couple of disenchanted folks. I should have known as most people are more than happy to b**ch when they are unhappy but don't bother to say anything when they are happy. It's the way of the world I suppose.

This is a member forum and all of the members have opinions. I'm certainly not spitting venom at anyone who happens to voice their opinions.

I have placed several orders with Joe and I've been happy every time. He tells it like it is, no BS. If he doesn't feel good about selling a particular fish, he doesn't sell it to me and that's all I can ever really ask for.

I've ordered probably over 100 fish from TFD and I have had exactly 0 DOA's. Out of that 100 fish, I have lost 1 discus, a few live bearers, and a few koi. Most of my koi and live bearer losses were jumpers that died on the floor. I wouldn't consider any of the losses anyone's fault as I had them for many days (weeks in the case of the discus). Fish eventually die of something and when you're dealing with hundreds of fish, you're going to have a few floaters.

So, sorry to open this can of worms Joe. I will continue to order from TFD.

I will continue to order as well. Of the 4 people that I know (several hundred fish later) we are all happy as far as I know.

I had mixed emotions with my order. First off, I thought Joe was a real easy guy to deal with on the phone and I appreciated his service. We talked about my order for a bit and he recommended certain fish and also advised me against ordering certain fish that he felt weren't healthy enough to ship. I also recieved one DOA, which Joe refunded me for right away. All my other fish arrived very healthy and have been doing great ever since. It was very easy to deal with him.

My only concern with my order was that several of the fish that I recieved were not what was on the inventory list and were not what I ordered. My thin bar dats were actually silvers, and my temensis were monos. I was looking foreword to recieving the fish that I ordered, as it is difficult for me to get them locally, and was dissapointed when I opened their bags. If I knew what I would have been recieving, I would not have ordered those fish. I did call Joe though, and he admitted that those names were what he was told they were when he ordered them and changed the names on the inventory list.

Overall though, I am happy with my fish and service. They are all thriving and happy. I would advise customers though to get a positive i.d. on the fish that they order so they don't end up in the same situation as me. That is my only word of warning though, and it seems that the problems I have experienced have been fixed.

I hope to do business with TFD again in the future - good prices and I all of the fish that I recied were quality.

Dude, you gotta be kidding me:swear:
Its his responsability to ID his own fish. If he doesnt know what the fish is, let him post a picture, It only takes 5 min. If he is too busy, then may be he should look in the books he sells:confused:

I agree, but I don't think it is fair for him to have to know all of the subtle differneces between all of the fish he sells. My problems were with pbass and dats - two groups of fish where individual species can be very difficult to tell apart. It's not like he labeled a clown loach as a silver arowana here. Yes, I was disappointed that I didn't recieve exactly what I ordered and will be sure to have positive i.d.'s in the future, but looking at the big picture, I personally can't blame them for not knowing these subtle differences, and I am not looking to burn any bridges or hold any grudges for this. I recieved healthy fish at prices still cheaper than what I would have gotten locally, and these fish were not the main fish in my order, just add ons. I advised him on what they should be labeled as, he heard me out, and he changed their names on the inventory list.

No reason to get your panties all in a bunch about this. After all, I am the one who was affected by this, not you, and I'm past it. :screwy:
