just got a new 55 gallon tank, thinking about doing african cichlids but also thought it might be interesting to do a single predator, something unusual...maybe a rainbow wolf fish? i hear they only get about 8 inches...anyway, i am open to suggestions, i just really want to get some opinions before i go and buy something, curious as to what others would do...

Willing to spend $$$? Asterphysus batrachus (Gulper cat) pic by Sazima, the seller Below Water in the buy and sell has some.

They would be a good choice if you have $500 dollars lying around also, don't forget about shipping.

that is a great looking fish, just not sure i can afford to spend quite that much at the moment....of course,i couldn't really afford the new tank either

i'd get some pike livebearers(Belenosox) & some archerfish. some bumblebee or asian bumblebee catfish.

it depends on u...are u bored easily?

imo...one single fish can get awfully boring (at least for me)...some people might swearing about this but i already said if it's ME...

go get african...tanganyikan is great...a lot of community fish..julidochromis marlieri, brichardi...altolamprologus calvus...those are somewhat small cichlids and they are full of acts...
