Stocking a new 740 gallon Tenecor tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll have to go with ray/aro too. I would get a black aro though :grinyes:
mix in a few angels, discus, and geophagus and it would be KILLER:D

oh yea, throw about a hundred neon tetras in just for fun :grinyes:

I do need to add some kind of catfish to clean the bottom up. I never have really seen in thing out of the ordinary at my local lfs and I never have tried to order fish online. I will look around at some of the other forums before I decide.

definately look into tigrinus cats......they are stunning.

i would say your choices are a little dull for such a great tank. that being said i have had or have all of those fish myself.

i would go with some more exciting cichlids

dovii hey the tank is big enough
robertsini
jaguar
red motaguense
some geophagus could be in place of catfish
salvinni
some flowerhorns or trimacs
silverdollars not tinfoil barbs

i know where this is going

another tig, aro, dat, pbass tank

guy, lemme just get this out

you should stock your tank with fish that you want, and not what everyone else wants.

when i started my 180 i did my own research of different fishes through different books, magazines, internet sites, etc etc.

be creative and stock it the way you want, with whatever you want.

and..........

NO FISH IS TOO DULL FOR A 740 gal

I totally AGREE with this guy~~
I would also put Grammode(it is like a smaller version of Dovii) in that size of tank.
red motaguense and Amphilophus robertsoni are both colorful..

If your fish of choice are the one you listed. Put the less aggresive fish first. The last would probably be the red devil and it should be the smallest also.

But honestly, If I have that kind of tank size, i would put 1 silver aro, 1 tigrinus, 1 or 2 motoro, 1 or 2 peacock bass. 1 or 2 large gibiceps or golden nugget pleco. 1 siamese tiger. 1 indo tiger. WOW, this is my dream setup and fish. :)

I think your choice of fish is fine. I don't see how that kind of mix could be dull to anybody. This is what I would do though. Get a maybe one foot aro put it in first and then go from there. And I think that it would be cool to get a pair of convicts in that size of a tank. You could have a little school of convicts or the other fish will make sure they dont breed. But anyways I would only do one red devil if you really want one. A pair of them might be a little crazy because they get extremly agressive when breeding. Everything else I think would be fine in pairs or even more. I would go with even numbers of each fish though. Like 1,2,4,6,8, and so on. With the exception of the bala sharks and tinfoils. I would do like atleast six of each of those. Also I think for a catfish a lima shovlenose would fit your tank perfect. Maybe even 2 of them. And the only way you are going to be satisfied with your tank is if you do it yourself and not let anybody tell you how dull it is. Good luck

Chad

Thanks for all the opinions. It has got me to thinking about different fish I could have. I have 1 month to study on it. That will be when I get to move in my new house and set the tank up.:)
