hey hey hey!!!!

commecial wet-drys are not the worst, in fact they one of the best, they match diy in every catergory except price, but id buy one instead of make one anyday, plus they look nicer and are a quality product

I'm using this tetra canister filter from japan. Its amazing. Connecting is easy, maintences is a piece of piss, and you can barely hear it. I have to put my hand to it to feel it vibrate slightly to see if its on.. SUPER GOOD FILTER. I've been using it for abt 6 months now. ANd no problems so far

Have a Whisper 20/C that ran for almost 20 years and is still running, that's why I bought a few others - one disappointment I have with them is that the Whisper 60 isn't Whisper quiet, the 20/C, 40, and 10i are indeed silent. However I recommend Aquaclear over Whisper, although Aquaclear is much more fragile and generally more quirky, it offers a lot of space and possibilities for media, has awesome flow rates, and doesn't flow back over the filter tube when media gets clogged, my AC500 has been running for 7-8 years with no real problems.

wet dry

I've had a fluval in the past. The clips that held the top to the bottom canister always broke.

No problems so far with the Eheims. Cleaning thems a ***** though.

What is wrong with Whisper???

mainly the backflow over the filter tube when there is too much media or clogged up media, the 60 isn't whisper quiet, otherwise i think they're great, lasts forever

I'll put my DIY wet/dry against a commercial one any day.

If it holds water and biomedia......it works. Commercial ones are WAY overpriced for the price that you can build one.
Plus you can make one to meet your needs to the "T"

You must suck at making stuff lol (or have deep pockets) lol!

Do you mind showing us how to make one out of say, an old fish tank or plastic tubs?
(Start a new thread if its too much a derail of this one?)

I suck at making stuff:)
And the price quoted for some wet/dry is kinda ridiculous for what it is.
