Any Manitoba mud farmers out there? (Sorry had to make a B.C.'r remark), are asians the permitted in Canada, I imagine so if thery're legal in the UK. I live very close to British Columbia . Let us know A?

No, they turn Asians away at the border. That's why Vancouver has so few Asians, only 30%. ;) Just kidding, I go to Whistler/Vancouver every year or two. :)

Oh, you meant Asian arowanas? Yes, they are legal in Canada with proper CITES documentation. The reason they aren't legal in the U.S. is because of the Endangered Species Act, not CITES.

you're funny. haha what does it take to get proper CITES document..? I can get to vancouver, trail, anywhere along the BC/WA border.
What do they cost there? What about a provinve that has a low human asian population, so the fish wouldn't be known, maybe sold cheaper????
I don't know if it's true, but I was told they could be brought through the border as live food fish for human consumption. Whatyya thank A?

update-homeland security-if you haven't crossed the border lately it's worse than flying in from overseas and hitting us customs. They stopped caring about the asians and have thwarted 3 mideast terror attacks, one last week, Ferry if you can avoid a drive or go to the Okanagon border.

If you like Whistler, you ever try Big White in Kelowna? Waist deep dry powder, yeaahhhhh and a loose moose bar 1/2 way down the slope!

OK, now back to my little pirhana problem.........yeah, it hurts now

I go to Whistler to mountain bike, not ski. The North Vancouver/Squamish/Whistler/ Pemberton area is famous for its freeride stunts, aka "North Shore" style riding. Kamloops is supposed to have some pretty sweet freeriding as well.

Regarding CITES documentation, my understanding is that the fish are microchipped and you get a CITES certificate that the fish is captive bred.

BTW, I hope you realize that, even if you buy an Asian arowana legally in Canada, you'd be committing a federal offense by importing it into the U.S. And it's not some petty offense, it could involve massive fines and jail time. :(

ouch!

So you're willing to be stopped at the border By U.S.customs trying to smuggle a fish into the country and risk a complete vechile search(btw they don't have to put the vechile back together)plus a possible fine and seizure of the vechile right?

So, you are going to smuggle an asin into the US from the candian border. LOL, you just screwed yourself!

about $1000 for juvie red tails.
other grown aros, like chili reds, probably $20,000+.

Actually, it was a theoretical question. Thanks, next time I'm in Canada I'll go to some stores in Vancouver and see real asians, that will be awesome. Haven't been to Calgary but with the population of asians in Vancouver, there should be some good shops. This beats the zoo anyday. Thanks
