Not sure why anyone would want to eat tilapia, tank raised or from the supermarket. They don't have the best flavor compared to so many other available fish. Get a 180,000 gallon tank and raise some big-eyed tuna. Now that's good eats!

Believe me I've had "good tilapia" served to supposed perfection in different Chinatowns in different citys and in what would be considered fine dining establishments. It's not all that! Even on the last episode of Iron Chef they referred to tilapia as a boring fish and proceeded to smother their culinary creations in sauces to mask the flavor.
I would much rather keep one as a pet and leave it at that! It's not bad, but it's definately not to die for.

#1. They weren't covering up the taste... they were giving it taste.

#2. They're better than snails.

#3. And you need to have them covered in corn meal and deep fried... everythings better deep fried.

#4. And at $5.00 a lbs their probably better as pets.
