Aquariums in apartments...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was on the third floor in my last place. I had a 55 gallon and a 35 gallon right next to each other on the same wall.. no problems. And it was an old building the floors were so thin that if I had the tv off I could hear the people downstairs talking. Maybe I just got lucky? Now I have larger tanks but I am on the bottom..lol

Yes i do. my landlord kept asking if she could eat my oscars and pbass. i was like hell no. give me half a year free rent u can have one. she didnt accept so i still pay rent. but she comes ever so often to check them and she still asks if she can have one for lunch and i am like FTS. now that my oscars are full grown not a chance.

I could not imagine ever eating one of my fish... Not that I eat fish anyways.. but they are your pets you cant eat them!!!! :grinno:

I live on the third floor and i have a 90 gal and a 45 gal in my bedroom, a 55 gal and soon to be a 75 gal in my dining room, and a 30 galand soon to be 180gal in my living room. My apartment has concrete floors between units. My neighbor has a 300 gal and a 180 in his living room.

you need to do your research on it. as said earlier.. the tall tanks and skinny ones are in danger of having problems. with regards to the rest of it... i really don't know.. IMO i would suggest 55-80 you can stretch up to 90 as long it's long enought to distribute the weight. look at it this way.. put a 500 lb on a table with a dimension of 48x48" compared to a 1"x1".. definitely the 1x1 will make a hole.:) have you seen the nail bed and man laying down? same concept.:)

Anyone ever been on the bottom end of this? Having several tons of water hanging over them without your knowledge or consent? Interesting...

Anyway I would get renters insurance that will cover damages if something were to happen.

C.Y.A.

You can't run fast enough to hide from that.

Think a little bit of your neighbors along with yourself and enjoy the hobby.
