No heater's tank maintained temp @ 83. Maybe the oscar did puke. It's odd how the water was getting cloudier buy the minute. I seriously questioned that she sabotaged the tank we did get into a argument earlyer that day. And get this she called me today on my way to work and told me the dog(a three year old bull terrier) wasn't eating or drinking and not wanting to move. Now you guys are really gona think it's her for sure !! Maybe I'm the next to go? No she seam's really concerned and want's new fish. I'm taking the dog to the vet first thing in the mourning. I haven't yet but will test the water . That was over 6 years And hundreds of dollars in fish that just pooofed & Die Hope I find out Why. If the fish did puke would the ammona be that strong????

you could have a gas pipe somewhere that leaking fumes

tough one. RIP

ok, you gotta understand women, shes at home, shes cleaning, shania twain is screamin from the stereo, the house is shining like a chrome bumber, she is on a cleaning binge, all aquariums look dirty to women, she sprays a little but a lot comes out, oh crap right in the tank, dead fish

im sure shes learned her lesson, no need to ever bring it up again, buy more fish and get over it

thats the only way chemicals smell would get in there, my oscars have puked a million times over the years, its all eaten back up before it hits the gravel, no long term damage

Chemical sprays or gases can enter thru the air pump, which usually sets closer to the floor.

Miles and streaker442 hit it first because the same thing happened to my Aro and Ray that were in the same tank together. I walked in the room and the water was a white cloudy look and the aro was bent in half dead and the ray was curled up and dead. I was going crazy trying to figure out what the heck I did wrong and all the experts I talked to said the aro most likely puked and sent toxins into the water and wiped them out. So I would say that is your best bet for what went wrong Sorry to hear it.

Sorry to hear good luck with the ongoing investigation....."CSI...MONSTERFISHKEEPERS.COM!!!!!":D

Your 240 gal should be able to handle puked up feeders. Have you added new gravel or substrate to your tank that might have possible contamination? Something went awry with your biological filtration causing the cloudiness, strange smell and ammonia/nitrite spikes. Are your filters running okay?

When you did your waterchange, did you do anything different? Something had to get in your tank....suspecting some type of chemical contamination due to the strange smell.
