After extensive searches, I've come up with next to nothing on this species.

If you keep Ossa's feel free to chime in and share some info

approx size? seems to be a range from 12" to a meter
compatibility? aggressive or communal

thanks

anyone?

never heard of them

I have a small one- they are passive, shy, nocturnal, and love blood worms. I think they only get about a foot, but I can't remember now. I did find one site on line about them, but, it's late ( early?) and I can't think of where it was. Google it- and go from there.

I bring them in every once and a while. Peaceful, feed small live foods, keep with low ph. There are many "trumpet" knifefish species.

elaphent nose???

the only site i found had some very general info

elaphent nose???

yeah I believe there also called elephant-nose knifefish

there really isn't alot if info on them- I think I actually got most of my info from the knives.com forum- there was some old discussions about them

so far, I've had mine about 2 months. It gets active when food hits the water. I imagine is swims around a bit at night. other wise, it lays around looking like a leaf or a stick. Mine is about 4-5 inches, and really small, over all. It lives with tetras, a few kuhli/dojo loaches, and a baby adonis pleco. There is a sandy bottom, some pebbley rocks, some driftwood, and some jave moss and other easy live plants.

so far, I've watched it eat pretty much right off the bat, seemed to acclimate well, and seems fine. I'm not sure if they are "electric" like black ghosts, since I was told by the dealer you could keep one, or multiples together. Two would probably fight.

Well... I saw some big ones freshly caught some time ago. There was a BIG one, almost 4 feet long. VERY impressive fish, BTW. :WHOA:

Oh, almost forgot... NO PIC OF THIS MONSTER. :grinno:

Best regards.

Daniel.
