not so much funny story but a lady at my lfs said and arrowana would get ten feet in a 55 gallon i was like wtf?:WHOA:

Maybe she was thinking of Arapaima?

Or maybe thinking of sliding the 55g 10 feet down a hill? Not sure I could slide one much further than that...

this story isnt from LFS but it sure is funny when people ask this question.. Guest sometimes want to see teeth of my pacu.. But this is usually very rare.. I will catch him and show guests the teeth.. After taking it out for like what?5 seconds? They will surely ask me wont the fish die without water? i said no and half a minute later they ask me again thats too long wont the fish be dead by now or something this always make me laugh like nuts

Wow. I hope you don't have guests over very often.

I had a customer call me at the store to try to figure out what was wrong with his pleco. After talking to him for about a minute, I discovered he hadn't de-chlorinated his water. :nilly:

Anyway, he was about 16 or so and brought his mom in with him to the store. He'd caught two 2" turtles recently and had decided to raise them. He thought a pleco would look good in there with them. I talked to them for a while and they were both great. By the end of the conversation, they'd purchased a number of things to help keep the pleco healthy and knew that they'd have to move him to a much larger aquarium fairly soon due to size and to keep the turtles from munching on him as they got bigger.

This beat the hell out of the conversation I had later on with a woman on the phone. It went something like this:

Me: it sounds like you have high nitrites in the water. have you tested for them?
Her: yes, I just did a test. it doesnt' show any ammonia.
Me: no, not ammonia, nitrites.
Her: right. I'm showing nitrates off the chart.
Me: okay, but what are the nitrites showing?
Her: they're off the chart.
Me: your nitrites are off the chart?
Her: yes, my nitrates are off the chart.
Me: nitrItes.
Her: nitrAtes...

I finally, after nearly FIFTEEN minutes of this, had to ask her to bring in a sample.

speeking of lfs stories i went to one in my town called aqualand pets plus and i went with my mom. last time i went there i bought an rtc because these guys have some really nice fish and the staff is educated.well today instead of the normal owner there the co owner was and man he was nasty. we was wearing hunting style shirt and pants a camo hat and his hair was down his back in a long braid to his waist. the thing that suprised me most was when he opened his mouth and i saw all his teeth where black AND then he pulled out a bottle of jose quervo from his back pocket and took a HUGE swigg of it
