Favorite LFS "CUSTOMER" STORIES ...

I do not work in an lfs either, but I am in them very often. Best one ive ever heard is.... I walked in and asked the lady at the counter if they had any frontosas, and she says hold on let me check. She proceeds to ask every other freaking employee in the building, and then comes back and says are they saltwater? I respond. No come with me. As i'm walking down the aisle i see black convicts, jack dempseys, and then brundi frontosa on the top shelf. I said these are the ones. So she grabbed a bag and a net and started to grab my fish. She turns after catching 1 and says how many. I said I'd like 3 please. She responds... Oh well these fish only live in groups of 6 or bigger. How big is your tank. I said 75. She says 6 would be suitable. After a 20 minute argument i finally through out to her. "Now look hear you idiot, you didn't know if you carried the fish, if so where they were at, and to top it off you didnt know if they were salt or freshwater." Now i need 2 please. So she scooped my fish out and went to the register. While at the register she tried to force upon me tropical fish flakes and xl floating cichlid sticks for the 1.5 inch fronts i had just bought. Then when i told her it was okay i had new life spectrum and baby pellets at home she responds no they dont like eating that kind of stuff. This is the kind of lady i expect to see working in the fish section at a local walmart not a local fish store.

i bought a fx-5 and it didnt work so i told them about it because id had some technical difficulties there previously(thats polite for f... ups)and i also live an hour and a half from the store in another town and i explainded this to them and they brought me a new one and installed it
now im very happy
this wasnt a franchise

dang the same thing happened to me but they won't even let me get my money back or trade it in for a good one

You guys are considered lucky to be able to have dumb workers in a fish store.. Over here in Malaysia we usually have small LFS and the only staff is the boss and another person.. They will tell you the right things.. If I was in the states.. Few LFS workers might have quit they're job already lol

Agreed. I've worked at a pet store for over 5 years now, and I try to talk people out of animals they will obviously neglect. Granted, this only works probably 1/4th the time, but I figure that if I warn them first then the animal's death isn't on my hands in the end

This is just crap.. They cant stand a puppy in a tiny cage but they can stand a soon-to-be 4feet long RTC in a 10gallon. Just dumb.. The amazon should be left untouched IMO its awesome.. But then again I wont have a silver aro in my tank now...

Today I was at PetSmart and I saw a gourami and a platy riding to their doom in a 2 gallon bettakeeper...

I once kept 2 powder blue gouramis, 5 tiger barbs, many guppies, 2 plecos in a 2.5gal before LOL.. I was so dumb then.. They all survived through the 2.5gal.. Their deaths:

Gourami- died in my 3ft tank
Tiger barbs- died in the 2.5gal when I was on vacation they were in the 3footer in the first place but i wanna try breeding them...
2 plecos- One still surviving till 2day its in my turtle tank. The other died...

Currently the 2.5gal holds about 10guppies, few ghost shrimps and is now a planted tank..
