The Uaru would take care of both big cichlid and schooling fish. I would recommend keeping them in groups and not with anything too aggressive.

Yea, i've done alot of reading on all these fish and I know Uaru's are best kept in 3+. But, I don't really want a species only tank right now. I would prefer a mix of the list I have listed and just trying to get an ideal number, the Chocolate's is going in as the primary fish. I'm trying to build around that.

Wouldnt have to be a species only tank. A set of 4 Uaru's would go just fine in a 180 with the Chocolate and Severums and such. No species only needed.

i have my chocolate in with a red severum, an uaru and others and there is next to no aggression. if it was my tank id get a couple of different sevs in there, an uaru(or a few) and a nice school of tinfoils

That is probably what i'll go with, i think this will be my stock list for it as of now:

1-2 Chocolate (10-12")
3 Uaru (8-12")
1 Rokteil (7-10")
1 Red Severum (7-10")
1 Gold Severum (7-10")

School Fish

I think the tinfoil's will be to much after time, even though I do plan on updating next year to a 240. I just don't want to get the fish with plans to update and then never update and now have fish that will be crowded. I'm really leaning towards about 20-30 Tiger Barbs, just have always loved them.

I think this will work and either way i'll more than likely be getting a bigger or another 180+ tank next year to move some if necessary :) I'm also planning on getting a 90 here in the next few months to start a build on and can take out someone that isn't playing nicely there lol

Yes!!!:iagree:

Got my Chocolate, Rokteil, Gold Severum and 20 Black Tetras yesterday :) My local Petland is great in that they will order any fish they can get and it comes the next day. The manager there is really nice and gives you 10% off any special order (i'm guessing to make it sale and not stay in the store). Going to hopefully get the Uaru's and Red Severum this week if they are on his order list. Will get up some pics as soon as I get my camera back :)

O, I also put a Red Head Veija also....hopefully he plays nice and I figued with just one there is more of a chance of it working then getting two and maybe getting a pair to take over.

Red Head Vieja? Do you mean Red Head Geophagus? A Synspillum will more than likely be too aggresive for the fish you have in that tank. Sorry I had to go back and read from the beginning. I still think the Vieja will mess with those fish but good luck.

I've had them in the past and have had luck with them when there is only one of them. When you start to get pairs then they can become a big issue. I've gotten lucky with them in that past and figured I would try it again, if not I'll move him/her to a 90 i'm fixing to start on next :) They are all growing up together, that always helps also; so i guess time will tell.
