Ok first I know i'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but I've been having my silver arowana for 6 months and I never bought a filter, i have no idea about ph or ammonia or whatever but how it's still living healthy so now I want to spend more time with my fish by hand feeding it but then I can't because he is always so shy, I feed it with hikari food sticks and sometimes throw in a little piece of hotdog, any tips on hand feeding it?

Handfeeding takes time. The Aro has to be comfortable with you.

like most of the time i just open the lid and throw him food, never actually took the time to hand feed it because every time i do it he gets scared and kept swimming towards it then back up and do it again and i would get impatient and quit

Just curious, but how big is your tank? Also how big is your Aro? If tank too small for Aro, could be why it's skittish.

you can feed hotdog made by poultry (Ex: turkey & chicken) lol

what is your temp at?

get a test kit and test your water params... unless you wanna go home one day and find your aro dead b/c your water params was too high or something.

10 gal and idk 8 inches im guessing?

i hope your joking... cause a 8" aro is way to big for a 10g tank... a/ one full grown silver needs a min. tank dimensions of 6'L x 3'W x 2'H....

make sure you have a lid on your tank also so you have no openings b/c aros are known as powerful jumpers!
