Black wolf fish in a 75 gallon tank for life??

hi, i am planning to get a balck wolf fish (hopalias curupira). i was wondering if I can house one in a 75 gallon tank (48 inches times 18 inches times 20 inches)?? Black wolves get to around 2 feet but their aren't that active. also what is the minimum price for a small one?? where to get one in canada??? what are alternatives wolf fish if I can't get a black wolf? Don't want a common or red wolf fish.

I don't think that's big enough, not much space to move around, I'd say 60"x24"x24" is the standard foot print

Hoplias Curupira is the 'black Wolf'.

And no, a 75 is nowhere near big enough. I felt so bad keeping mine in a 210, I upgraded to my 340g and the big fella has never looked happier. They will be inactive in a small tank but in a tank that gives them room to swim, they are much more active.

And, I'm not one of these people that condone buying a fish with the 'view to upgrade'. Get the biggest tank you can right away and if you need to grow something out, grow it out in the smaller tank and transfer. Most fish grow faster in a bigger tank anyway so don't wait if you're serious about getting a Curupira; get that big tank straight away! Aim for a MINIMUM 72x24x24 but if you can add some width, do and try for something thats at least 30" wide. Height isn't as important and naturally, a tall tank (24"+) is significantly more expensive becuase of the necessity for thicker glass, so 24" is fine heightwise, especially if you're on a budget.

what is a smaller wolf fish that i can keep in a 75 gal for life?? don't want common or rainbow. price and rareity. what other cool aggresive characin or fish would you recommend me??

Was going to say Rainbow but thats out the window Lol. Try a Purple Wolfish<--click... its a new species coming from Peru. Ive seen 2 Vendors sell them.

As for Charicins W/Teeth...?
*Exodon's aka buck tooth tetra (50-75 would be SWEET!! in a heavy filtered tank)
*Guppie With massive Chompers (forgot the name but look like guppies with Teeth from Mortal Combat- Baraka to be exact)
*Scomb

Can't think of anything else right now
 
I own a purple wolf and it is very active and has a lil agression towards his teankmates lol.I never had a black wolf but it looks like they get massive lol

Heh. guys I owned a 8 inch purple wolf fish a while ago until it died 2 months ago! I think the are the erythinus "peru" version. don't like em too much since they don't have some intense red colour.
