Igor has now lived longer than any previous. Still eating well. He's very aggressive. Wife wanted to get him a friend. I vetoed that idea. Going to go with smaller glass for the pond. Half the price. Should start in October.
Both wife and me alergic to cats. I like fish, we have birds. The arowana was an asian thing. She heard they're good luck. I've always liked them. My brother had one, his lived awhile before it busted the tank top and dried up on the floor. I have a few friends that have them. They can't afford to keep them correctly. I can, I just seemed to have gotten bad advice as to what to feed them. Some of that advice has come from MFK'ers. It doesn't take a fish expert to buy one that's already half grown, put it in a tank w/a filter and heater, then feed it small rodents. He may live awhile. Sure a 8-10 inch aro is still a baby. His diet is different than what a 3 inch aro eats. They are very fragile at this stage in their life. Trolls sre no help to anybody. Pet shops are there to make money. God is great. Beer is good .......Fish are cool.
....
My godson's arowana died yesterday. I don't have the details yet. He's one of the people who told me to feed FD krill. I beleive he simply got too busy with school and work to take care of it. He should have given it to me. I'd of killed it much quicker. But .... with every dead arowana the arowana raising community learns alittle so I will document his failures with mine. I look forward to many insightful coments from "spiritofthesoul". Poor little guy was in tears I heard. He bought a little grave stone and had a funeral service.
UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! He did a 40% water change with TAP WATER!!! Then he's not sure if filter was running. Filter was not when he found the fish, but for how long he's not sure. For the love of god!! This guy is going to school to be a marine biologist. He has a 4.0 grade point avg, and has over 600 gallons of fish tanks. This is what girlfriends do to young men. They forget about keeping their fish warm. And Clean. And fed. Hmmmm... better stop at that.
