Why don't you properly cycle the tank before adding the gar?

Use stability to get it done faster.

Adding the gar while it's not cycled can and will probably kill him from the ammonia.

that little area you have is like perfect for the tank I have the same tank accept mines all wood looking trim and bottom stand. But if i were you i would make a plywood build and make it a little bigger just so you have the room for bigger fish.
plus you wont need to see the sides of the tank since its up against the wall.
Food for thought

Good Luck!!

well i see your point and if it were any other fish i would agree, but they are gar. and currently they are in a styrafoam cooler in my bathroom0714111254.jpg
. yes the ammonia is not good for them i highly doubt it will kill them. tho i have added nutrafin cycle to the water, i am willing to wait one more day for the cycle and for the water to de-cloud, however i am waiting for the proper cycle b4 adding any thing else, plus the gar should speed up the process, oh and i for got to mention that i pulled the fluva 405 off of a very well aged 125 and did not rinse the bio rings

thanks i accually plan to have an "in wall" tank pushing upwards 650 gal, but that will be when i purchase a house of my own

I love that spot for the tank. If it were me I would be tempted to make it a built in. Just a little work and some trim.....

Justmove the AC110 to the tank with the gar, it has been handling their bioload, so no reason it won't on the 150g.
