im waiting on one of these fish to arrive. has anyone kept them and is there anything you think i will need to know about them
Might have been an idea to check this all out before ordering one no??
As stack deck has pointed out there is some confusion of the true ID of these fish.
3 very similar species & a confusion over new & old names.
Pictures will definately help.
These fish could well turn out to be B. Rousseauxii / Flavicans in which case has a common name of Dorado Cat or sometimes Platinum Cat in respect of their platinum colouring.
Valianti should be much darker silver in colour.
These have the potential to be huge fish & if they're anything Like B.Rousseauxii then they can be jumpy & skittish certainly whilst small & until settled.
Provide the biggest possible tank you can for them with excellent filtration & current.
Dim lighting is prefferred, some big pices of wood, smooth stones that kinda of thing.
Water quality must be excellent.
Hope that helps
i have bin looking up on them thanks rob. i just wanted to know from people who have or who have kept them as it always helps to have a personal view.and i dont think it will be flavicans as i have one of them on the way to.
as for the tank it will be going in to 8x8x4 once it gets bigger. and if it outgrows that then there is always the new build. thanks for the info
